The 50th Reunion is set for 4-7 November in conjunction with the Army game. We are going to be arranging an alternative, warmer solution for those who may not want to brave Falcon Stadium on that first Saturday in November. We are going to have at least one venue (depending on response) which will be a nearby bar/pub/restaurant where those classmates who desire can watch the game, have food and beverages, stay warm and Beat Army! The committee did listen to the voices of those concerned about potentially marginal weather.
As we began the initial planning stage, thinking we would stick to our tradition of having it on the Service Academy football weekend, we started getting input that more folks were living in warm climes, some were aging a bit and they thought the potential for harsh weather was greater in early November than in late September or early October. Apparently they didn't remember our snow on Labor Day Weekend 1961 with khakis and raincoats.
After consultation with the class officers, the decision was made to have the reunion around the first available home game in 2015 which will be 26 Sep, 10 Oct, or 17 Oct. We can't have it parents' weekend or on homecoming. We have to wait for the football schedule to be released in early 2015 to pick our date from the list above.
We are hoping for a large turnout from the class. As we have done for past reunions, we are encouraging the squadrons to invite all who entered on 26 June 1961, not just grads.
The typical schedule is:
In the past there has been a prayer breakfast organized by classmates which happens either Thu or Fri AM.
** Motivated by the TV money the football game can be moved around. It has been as early as Thursday night and as late as Saturday night. We don't always get a lot of notice. Sometimes it is 1000 on Saturday. We will build in as much flexibility as possible.
